Welcome to the Greater Grand Forks Amateur Radio Emergency Services (GGFARES) page.
If you would like to become a member of GGARES, you can download a membership application from the 'FORX Club Forms' link. You can return the completed form to any FORX club officer.
If you are interested in Skywarn and wish to volunteer as a mobile spotter, you may put your call on the Spotter Calendar by clicking on the Mobile Spotter Registration Link. Simply enter your call and click on the days you might be available in case of a severe weather event. If you have been certified to be net control at the National Weather Service (NWS) you can indicate the times you can be either the primary or secondary NWS contact. If you have indicated a time for the NWS contact and your schedule changes, you can remove yourself from the calendar by selecting the appropriate date and selecting the time(s) you will be available. You can clear your schedule by selecting the date and not selecting any of the shift options. You can register by clicking on the NWS Contact Registration Link.
You can view this week's schedule by clicking THIS WEEK or NEXT WEEK.
If there is a threat of severe weather in the area, listen for N0GF on the 146.70MHz or 146.94MHz repeaters. If you do spot some severe weather, please give us a call with your report. Let us know where you are and what you're seeing, or if the event has passed your area, let us know what happened. The NWS is very interested in receiving as many spotter reports as possible. If you are unable to call in by radio, the NWS toll free number is 1-800-667-1218.
Thank you for your interest in the GGARES program and we hope to hear you 'on the air'.
